Job Description

For the National Guard to successfully complete water missions, it needs vessels that function properly. As a Watercraft Engineer for the Army National Guard, you will be responsible for supervising and performing maintenance on Guard watercraft and auxiliary equipment on marine liners.

Your duties will include repairing or maintaining gasoline and diesel engines, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment, electrical systems, or other mechanical equipment.

Job Duties

* Perform daily systems checks
* Troubleshoot and repair watercraft propulsion machinery
* Repair and service hoisting, lift machinery, and engine-related electrical systems

* Internal combustion engine theory
* Service and repair of fuel injection systems
* Welding and machine shop fabrication

Job training for a Watercraft Engineer consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.
