This Engineer II (Electrical Engineer) will provide electrical design of Life-Safety (Fire Alarm), Telecommunications, and Primary and Secondary power distribution systems for capital projects and renovations of existing facilities. The Electrical Engineer will provide services to the department in the form of plan development, specification writing, estimating, field investigations and project management.
Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.Significant knowledge of general electrical engineering design. Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in at least ONE or MORE of the following areas: (Note: This experience MUST be represented on your application and the duties and responsibilities fully explained.)
- Design/evaluation of power distribution 600 volts and below
- Lighting design/evaluation
- Grounding design/evaluation
- Voltage drop design/evaluation
- Fire Alarm design/evaluation
Management preferences:Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university. 2 - 4 years of electrical design experience Registration as a Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) or ability to complete licensure in State of N.C. within 2 years of hire.
