Mgr-Field Engineering

Responsible for the development and implementation of operational solutions that improve and standardize service center methods and procedures. Provide direction, oversight and support to effectively identify, develop and implement solutions to maximize operational performance.

1. Select, educate, develop critical skills sets and motivate a staff of Field Engineering Analysts and Engineers
2. Provide leadership and direction to field operations management for designated region in identifying, developing and implementing solutions to maximize operational performance
3. Develop and update engineering plans based on forecasted freight volume, volume availability and freight distribution to provide direction and assistance in optimizing service center dock, pick-up and delivery (P&D) and administrative functions in assigned region
4. Utilize quality Driven Management (QDM) principles collaborating with field operations management to achieve maximum service center performance within the guidelines of service requirements
5. Review and identify trends in Operations by utilizing operational reports and data
6. Monitor and report on compliance of safety and operating procedures
7. Provide data for Facility Analysis Plans and Capital Lease Expenditure Authorization Request (CLEAR)
8. Prepare and monitor budgets for analysts and engineers to ensure spending is applied and within budget guidelines
9. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
10. Perform other duties as required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Transportation or related field or equivalent work experience plus five (5) years’ experience in applied engineering concepts and technology in Less Than Truckload (LTL) transportation industry in which three (3) years must be in an operations leadership capacity
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations
• Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications
• Verbal and written communications skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information
• Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals
• Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals and respond to day-to-day functional needs
• Knowledge of FXF company policies/procedures

• Ability to travel required
• Hours may vary due to operational need
• Exposure to dust, noise, fumes and extreme hot and cold weather changes
