Project Manager

  University of Florida: Utilities and Energy Services, Facilities Services

The University of Florida was recently ranked  the top 8 public university in the nation.  We are seeking a motivated, hard working individual who work with us to further grow and maintain our preeminent facilities at our beautiful campus in Gainesville FL. 

This position will report to the Assistant Director of Utilities for Thermal Systems in the Facilities Services Division. The incumbent will assist in providing project development, coordination, and administration for University utility construction, renovation, and repair projects on the chilled water and steam distribution systems as well as the University’s central utility plants which includes 47,000 tons of cooling capacity and 210, 000 pounds per hour of steam production across nine (9) plants. The position reviews, develops, and manages engineering and utility design and construction for university buildings, utility plants, and infrastructure-based projects. 

Incumbent must be detail-oriented and well organized; able to manage a variety of tasks and maintain prioritization of projects. Must be able to use good judgement with regard to construction related contractual issues. Ability to recommend and implement policies and projects

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Other related engineering disciplines will be considered with appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Engineer Intern (E.I) registration or Professional Engineering (P.E.) License; Training or experience in design and construction of large scale water and steam distribution systems and chilled water and steam production facilities; Computer Skills in Microsoft Office Applications; Knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS, PipeFlo, or other hydraulic modeling suites, and other construction design software; Knowledge of Microsoft Project and construction scheduling software; Knowledge of construction process, techniques, and methods in underground utilities and plants
