Chesterfield County is currently seeking an experienced engineer to conduct engineering evaluations of wastewater system capacity for proposed development and expansion of existing industries; review design hydraulic analysis for proposed water and wastewater lines; review construction plans for conformance to Chesterfield County standards; assist in the administration of the Water and Wastewater Assessment District Policy and in evaluating requests for service.  Respond to internal/external inquiries and requests for information; assist in the maintenance of up-to-date Water and Wastewater Facilities Plan; some capital improvement project management.  Perform other work as required.  PLEASE NOTE:  Previous applicants do not need to re-apply.  Applications will remain under consideration until position is filled.   This position will remain open until 4/6/17 unless it is filled prior to that date.  First review of applications will begin 2/24/17.  Successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related field and at least three years of experience in design construction and/or operation of public water distribution and wastewater collection systems (five years preferred); or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Considerable knowledge of system hydraulics, including pumping stations, storage tanks, pressure control devices, etc. required.  Previous project management experience is a plus.  Knowledge and working skill in the use of a personal computer; good oral/written communication and public relations skills necessary; and construction plan review experience desired.  Knowledge of and ability to interpret land use plans desired.  Ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator who promotes a true team environment.  Ability to evaluate situations and make "on the spot" decisions regarding policy and design considerations; excellent "people skills" and ability to exhibit diplomacy when interacting with the public, development community and county personnel.  Good driving record required.  Must not reflect a total accumulation of six or more negative points within the past three years or a major violation within the past for years.  Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.  A Chesterfield County application is required and must be submitted online by deadline.  Visit careers.chesterfield.gov to view instructions and to complete and submit an application.  (804) 748-1551.
