Senior/Principal Systems Engineer

BAESystems Rochester is entering an area of unprecedented growth and we arelooking for experienced and talented systems engineers to join us to supportthe development of a wide range of state-of-the-art products.

Aspart of one of the world's leading defence, security and aerospace companies,you will be part of the development and supply of products across a diverse mixof commercial and military platforms; Head Up and Head Worn Displays, SafetyCritical Pilot Control and Flight Control Systems for military and civilaircraft.

Weencourage our Systems Engineers to gain a breadth of knowledge across theseproduct domains and also develop to become subject matter experts in one ormore product domain, or systems engineering specialism.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior/Principal SystemsEngineer will involve:

Understanding our customers challenging needsand developing, validating and managing requirements

Developing complex system architectures andsub-systems

Integrating systems containing electronic,mechanical, optical and software sub-systems

Verifying that customer needs are satisfied

Taking accountability for technical workpackages

Providing guidance and coaching to otherengineers

Steering new systems development throughimplementation of best practice systems lifecycle processes

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior/Principal Systems Engineer:

Proven experience in systems engineeringactivities in relevant product markets

Proven experience in requirements and designanalysis, modelling and simulation, using tools such as DOORS and Simulink anddesign methodologies such as SysML

Proven experience in safety-related systems andsafety assessment processes with an understanding of how these processesinfluence the design

Significant customer liaison experience fortechnical issues

Ability to work with no guidance and make soundstrategic decisions

Practical experience in estimating, planningand tracking engineering activities

Ability to perform design review assessmentsand technically guide the work of others

Detailed electronic engineering experience ishighly desirable. Exposure to other engineering disciplines (design,manufacture, etc.) is also desirable

A degree or equivalent qualification in arelevant Scientific/Engineering subject (e.g. Systems Engineering, ElectronicEngineering, Physics or Mathematics)
