Supply Chain Engineer

The New Product Development Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining a supply base for all commodities that supports rapid production manufacturing. High level of independent judgment, initiative, creativity, develop true cost in collaboration with Design Engineers, Buyers and Supplier Development throughout the purchasing process. Develop and utilize competitive component and/or system cost analysis and knowledge of manufacturing processes to recommend robust cost-effective solutions. Articulate available estimates, cost drivers, and content tradeoffs to development team. Drive cost effective decisions to meet program financial targets, while supporting the execution of new products development.

  • Identify, develop and manage a pool of preferred prototype/rapid manufacturing suppliers for each commodity.
  • Source pre-production and production-intent materials to the NYAB development supply-base.
  • Bring new suppliers to the NYAB development teams to bridge latest technologies, latest manufacturing processes and latest material information.
  • Participate on the various product development teams.
  • Responsible for material deliveries in support of the NPD efforts.
  • Management of project capital for tooling and 3rd party support.
  • Report to executive management the commodity strategy, performance, market dependencies and overall state of the NPD commodity supply base.
  • Management and record keeping for supplier NDA s, unique supplier agreements and legal review of supplier documents if needed.
  • Add and manage new suppliers to facilitate product development.
  • Create a bridge between our development efforts and serial production sourcing; both suppliers and commodity mangers.
  • Through our project management team structures support Engineering design realization of products (parts, drawings, testing, etc).
  • Align key development suppliers to assist with specification of engineering materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Support the NPD teams through T -Shaped skills support that works outside of the primary function of purchasing support.
