Systems Engineer / ISSM

Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer / ISSM specialist to become part of a Government Program Office team in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Information Directorate in Rome, NY. AFRL is one of the nation's premier government research labs, with a mission of leading the discovery, development, and integration of affordable war fighting technologies for air, space and cyber forces. AFRL's Information Directorate focuses on solutions for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) and Cyber technologies.

Our SecureView (SV) team is responsible for government testing and successfully fielding software and systems that provide secure access to cross-domain virtualized desktop machines. The successful candidate will support the SV Program Management Office (PMO) in the development and accreditation of cross-domain capabilities through effective management and dissemination of system level requirements.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Providing full systems engineering lifecycle support for the SV PMO to include leadership of special/ advanced projects team and initiatives
  • Evaluation and tracking of new requirements through the full software development lifecycle
  • Conducting evaluations to assess relevant emerging new technologies for cross-domain application
  • Maintaining awareness of the latest technologies applicable to cross domain operations
  • Evaluate potential impacts of new security policies on existing and upcoming software baselines
  • Assist in the definition and documentation of cross domain systems and software
  • Lead system operations and documentation reviews
  • Provide systems engineering expertise at program reviews and technical interchange meetings

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
  • 5+ years of experience in information systems security within the DoD and IC environment
  • Basic knowledge of Risk Management Framework to include certification and accreditation, and government acceptance testing
  • Understanding of modern scalable software architectures and methods
  • Experience with Software Development, Operating System Architecture and object-oriented languages
  • Knowledge of DOD/IC Information System security policies such as ICD 503, NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-37
  • Experience with Federal Information Assurance/Cybersecurity Certification and Accreditation policy/procedures
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of management and technical personnel
  • Ability to read and understand networking protocols, services and architectures
  • DoD 8570 Certified, IAT Level 3 (CISSP)
  • B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

Preferred Skills and Education
  • Familiarity with current cross-domain technologies
  • Active DoD Security Clearance
  • Experience in an agile software development environment
  • Experience with C, C++, Java, UNIX, Linux, scripting
