The Systems Engineer aids in the design, management, and support of the software, hardware, and cloud (AWS) services that comprise the CCIT technology infrastructure. Working closely with the Director, Systems and Infrastructure, the incumbent is responsible for administration of hardware, software, and cloud services including, but not limited to, physical hosts, virtual machines and NetApp storage appliances. In conjunction with the Director, Systems and Infrastructure, the Systems Engineer contributes to the design and monitoring of this infrastructure to ensure highly available and scalable services.
-Contribute to the administration of physical servers, routers, switches, firewalls, security updates and patches.
-Daily review of system logs, application availability, and general system/services health.
-Contribute to system backups for all systems (physical and virtual) on regular intervals. Regularly verifies backups for integrity, consistency, and restorability.
-Works as part of a team to secure all physical and virtual equipment, regularly verifying systems against standard operating procedures. Perform security reviews periodically, making adjustments as necessary to protect College assets from vulnerabilities and exploits.
-Contributes to new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
-Establishes, maintains and manages user accounts; installs, modifies and maintains systems and utility software on servers; and provides server support related to other software.
-Assists with planning, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure.
-Assists with migration of on-premises applications to cloud infrastructure.
-Writes and maintains documentation for all aspects of the CCIT infrastructure.
-Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications For Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant: Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required. A minimum of two to four years of related experience required.

Strong Experience With
-Microsoft Server 2008, 2012. and 2016
-Active Directory and Group Policy management
-Scripting languages such as PowerShell, VBScript, and .NET
-VMware vSphere , including ESXi and vCenter
-Network protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
-Experience with organizing, planning, and documenting work via a ticketing system, such as Jira, Bugzilla, ServiceNow, etc.
-Outstanding attention to detail, as well as ability to conceive of the larger picture in relation to strategic planning required.
-Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under short and changing deadlines, while ensuring timely and accurate execution.
-Excellent analytical, oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
-Must be innovative and have the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
-Must have the ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion and tact in a professional setting.
